It's been a LONG time since we've done a Throwback Review. So let's pick up where we left off: with an insufferable TARDIS couple realizing that things are just a little bit complicated, and a heaping helping of nostalgia from the Archetypal Companion and the Shooty Dog Thing.
I appreciated your comments on this episode. There are things I truly love about School Reunion. Anthony Head as the Bad Guy is supreme. And the moment when Sarah Jane finds the TARDIS and then Ten says "Hello, Sarah Jane"–well that scene brings all the feels, as the kids say. I get annoyed with Ten moaning over how he outlives his companions. Poor baby. I agree there's plenty to roll eyes at in this episode, but it surfaces as a favourite rewatch for me.
I was starting to think that you didn't make throwback reviews anymore, nice to see them back! I found this podcast a few months ago because of one of your throwback reviews precisely, loved it and after listening to all of them I decided to check the rest of the archive.
What I loved about school reunion was how they managed to make it feel nostalgic even for people who were not familiar with Classic Who. When I first watched it I wasn't familiar at all with it, I didn't knew who Sarah Jane was but I got the feeling right away that she was someone special for the Doctor and it made me feel excited for them meeting again.
