  1. I have an oddly similar experience. I never was the one who was into “nerd” culture. I’m a sports guy. Oh sure, I watched Star Trek as a kid. And am sometime who enjoyed TNG more. And yes, I did giggle through, occasionally, fourth Doctor episodes on PBS. Can’t lie though, I grew up a baseball nerd. Knew all the players on all the teams, etc.

In 2006, my wife started watching with my younger children, “modern” Who. I didn’t quite get into it yet in anyway, but they did.

Until this time, I was not a podcast listener. However was getting tired of “the Bro” style of talk radio, especially sports talk radio. So, I looked around for podcasts to listen to. Through sheer luck, came across Radio Free Skaro. Can’t remember what episode it was, but it must have been the right one, because these three gentlemen came across to me, as three guys talking about Doctor Who as three guys talking sports (sorry Warren & Chris). I enjoyed the snarky banter & the making fun of themselves. Just like my friends & I do.

Anyway, RFS is responsible for me getting into podcasts, period. Has it turned into me hitting the convention circuit? No. We have gone to a couple LI Who’s. Sadly, the family dynamics have changed, so it doesn’t happen, plus I now do my own (hockey, not Dr Who) so that’s where my free time goes. Although, my plan is to retire to the west coast in a couple of years & have Gallifrey 1 as kind of a bucket list item.

I guess this was just a very, very long winded way of saying, every time you said that this has happened to me thanks to RFS, in my own way, I found myself saying, “me too”.

Glad your podcast is back & thanks for letting me be so kind winded.
